El Borrego Restaurant on El Cajon

Haven't seen many comments about this place here, though some other sites cover it extensively.

For those of you who haven't tried this, you should.

It's lamb prepared Mexican style!

It's located at 4280 El Cajon Blvd. Not exactly the best part of town and the restaurant is nothing fancy, though it is painted with a cute touch and the lady who runs the place is a doll. Very caring and nice.

I went with my brother and we shared a bowl of Pozole Verde and the Lamb Mixiote.

WOW!!

The Pozole came with some lime, avocado, chicharrón's, tostado shells, oregano and chili flakes.

The Lamb came with freshly made corn tortillas, onions, cilantro and lime. They also had two kinds of hot sauces, a red and green. The red was very tasty.

The lamb came steaming hot in a bowl wrapped in foil. It was in a broth and was very flavorful. There was plenty of meat to make four fat tacos each with a small amount of leftovers.

We also had some Jamaica Hibiscus drink. It was tasty with good intensity while being a bit sweet. If you like to pack on the heat like I do, then the sweetness was a good thing to calm your palate.

This place ranks up there with Super Cocina and El Paisa Tacos! 4.3/5 rating.
