I tried what I believe to be the egg cakes of legend. The cart was on Canal St. though, not the Mosco St. lady, or the Bowery gang.
20 for a dollar but they were much smaller than I had imagined, hollow too. Correct me if I'm wrong but they taste exactly like Belgian waffles, very malty and nice but nothing you can't taste licking the side of a waffle iron(after cooling).
Are these the proper cakes that I ate?
