There recently was an interesting interview on one of the local radio shows discussing the potential for using insects for food as one potential solution to the world's food shortage problems. (The guest pointed out that although insect-eating is out of favor in most societies today, historically humans have always eaten insects. He also suggested one way to increase acceptance might be to farm them as foodstuff and perhaps serve them as a processed - ground, etc - protein product, as in hotdogs, rather than as whole insects.)
After hearing his descriptions of termites as having a delicious, nutty taste, I am dying to try them and other insects.
And, yes, I can see from past threads that "bug eating is old news for Chowhounders."
Any places in NY serve insects?
(I already know about grasshopper tacos at Toloache and Galaxy Global Eatery.)
