Echigo Omakase excellent for the $$$ & $5 corkage!

Been to Echigo a few times and was impressed enough to go back and try the Omakase last Saturday. Knowing this is truly a Sushi house (sign at door warns customers they do not serve spicy tuna rolls) I knew raw and seared fish and not cooked Omakase was in store. First off the location is on the top floor of a strip mall so don't expect fancy. On a Saturday night at 6:30 plenty of room. Sat at the sushi bar (the bar is Omakase only) next to the main sushi chef (I know I know I should know his name). The wasabi was oh so fresh and the soy sauce was on the light side so as not to hide the flavor of the fish. They asked if my Saki was cold and reminded me of the $5 corkage. We brought a bottle of Shimeharizuru Junmai Ginjo we found at the Japanese market on Sawtelle. Great bottle BTW. Back to the food.
Omakase went like this:
Albacore Sashi - Excellent
Halibut - Very Good
Toro - Excellent
Sweet Scallop - New fav. Sweet w/o a hint of low tide.
Bonito - very good
Then came a fish with a french name (no it wasn't wanda) - He said it's seasonal and we liked.
Butter Fish - Seared perfectly. So goooood
Baby Tuna - Delicate and sweet
Blue Crab Roll - Could have eaten 20 of these.

I could have stopped here and been happy but they had fresh Kumamoto oysters so had those as well as the Shimaji. Both were very good but I like my oysters with a bite of Tabasco.

Omakase was $35 and the Oysters and Shimaji were extra. Total with tax and corkage $84.54!! I can't remember the last time I had such great sushi for less then $100!
