I just returned from Orlando and had a terrible experience at Emerils in Orlando. Only my second trip to his Orlando location, but have been to NOLA many times.
Our server for food and wine was a tall young man with a buzz cut. This was a special occasion and I wanted to treat these people to a great meal. First of all I ordered Veuve Clicquot and it was $ 135 for a $ 21 bottle of champagne - fair enough.
The server let the cork go with a bang and then proceeded to almost completely fill up the champage flutes. He then located the ice bucket over 15' away from the table.
Next he opens the cabernet and fails to hand me the cork - it was plastic anyway. He then proceeds to fill the first glass almost to the top of the glass. I told him we would take care of the rest of the service.
I used to be in the wine business and know Emeril has his people trained and they have a 50 question test they must pass.
His final trick was to say my credit card was no good. I always carry plenty of cash but $435 I did not have on me.
The person whom I was entertaining had to pay for the meal leaving most wondering about my finances. I just bought a $ 181 K home in Atlanta for cash and only buy my vehicles for cash and had plenty of money in my Visa account verified by my hotel just after this fiasco.
If you ever have this happen to you - get the supervisors involved and ask them to witness your credit card verification.
People like this waiter should not be allowed to destroy this fine restaurant's reputation. I hope someone points this out to Emeril - enough of this pig.
