Eastern European in JH and Elmhurst

I found a great Lithuanian rye bread in Elmhurst --
It's at the Silver Bell (or maybe Silver Spoon?)
Bakery, on Junction Blvd. and 43rd Ave. Also they have
yummy babka, including poppy seed babka which looks and
tastes just like the baked good I thought was called
poppy seed struedel, which I've been looking for for a
long time...

And funny, the same day I found that I found the same
poppy-seed babka at a Russian deli in Jackson Heights,
the International Food Store on 37th Ave. around 85th
Street somewhere. Previously I'd been going to the
Polish Deli on 37th and 80th, but listen, I really
think the IFS is a big step up from that place. Esp.
their cheese selection is nice.

And to complete my neighborhood food shopping
adventures I went into a fruit and vegetable on 37th
between 86 and 87, where they actually had beautiful
ripe peaches and nectarines! In New York -- I was
amazed!
