Went there on Saturday to pick up a desert to bring for Easter brunch. The place was mobbed as expected (according to tickets there were 50 people ahead of us--although some must have given up and left).
We had our mind set on Italian cheesecake but then saw the beatiful cake near the bottom--translucent white glaze/topping all over, with beautiful sugared fruit on top. Asked what it was and were told it's Sicilian cassata. We just had to get it too.
The cheesecake we got was very good: not too sweet and very moist, ricotta was very creamy, and it had pieces of sugared fruit inside.
The cassata was good too, but maybe a little bit too sweet for my taste (although with strong black coffee it was perfect). The cake is pretty much a canolli filling with a little bit of sponge cake, and the white topping tasted like marzipan more than anything.
And I absolutely loved the sugared fruit on top!
I have gone there 4 times already in the past month, and this is my new favorite place to get delicious deserts.
