Had several courses there tonight. I'm somewhat of a regular, but the menu has recently changed format some and I feel like they have really settled into a comfort zone and are turning out consistently good food.
While it is a constantly changing menu due to the seasonality of local ingredients, they seem to have really taken effort to shorten it and not try to please everyone all the time.
Tonight we had the venison tartare, fried zucchini, roasted porkbelly, braised rabbit and the burger. not a week dish in the bunch. zucchini and porkbelly were both off the $5 small plate menu that changes pretty regularly. the other three were off the regular menu. not a misfire in the bunch. the grits with the rabbit were spicey and smooth. the rabbit may have been the most moist and tender rabbit i've had in town. burger was rare grassfed beef. really nice.
I was there a month ago and caught a bolognese w/fresh housemade pasta off the specials board. knocked my socks off.
They have shortened the menu significantly from the previous incarnation which was several pages. now its one page printed out daily.
Service was better than usual and the drinks were worthy of their recent press.
the meal, five drinks and tip came out to $144. Works for me.
