This past weekend was the Eagle Rock Sportsmen's seventh annual BBQ. It was the first one that I've attended and it deserves a mention.
I thought the wildest thing that they'd serve would be buffalo. Boy was I wrong. I had venison sausage, wild boar sausage, boar meatballs, smoked boar, I think it was boar chili, boar chops, venison chops, buffalo ribs, buffalo cheese burger, and for those with milder tastes, some BBQ'd chicken. It was all served with baked potatoes, steamed corn on the cob, coleslaw, rolls and butter. There was an appetizer of elk sausage for those who got there early. I did.
Next year at this time when you go by the Eagles Club on the corner of Yosemite and Townsend, look for the sign of the buffalo BBQ. It's an event that shouldn't be missed.
