Dusty's in Silverlake review

We stopped in at Dusty's for breakfast on Friday. VERY cute space, I had been to the coffee house that was there previously, but now the restaurant spills into the adjacent property. One half by the windows is painted light colors with padded banquets along the wall and cute white-washed "picnic" tables in the middle of the room. The other side looks darker and is probably nicer for dinners, whenever they start serving them. There is also a small bar set in the back of the room.

I had French Toast. It was fine. Not NINE DOLLARS fine, but whatever. ($8.00 without meat) No fruit or garnish to speak of on the plate either. My husband had a crepe with spinach and goat cheese. This came with a mixed greens salad and mustard vinagrette. Also $9.00. He asked if he could substitute fruit for the green salad, and they said NO. We would have accepted if there was an additional charge for a substitution, but they just flat out said no. I found that rude.

The coffee was great, very strong. Our waiter said the owners are from Montreal and they use some special coffee from there.

Looking over the menu, there are burgers for $10-$12 dollars, a grilled chicken breast sandwich for $11, salads that run from $10-$13 and fairly standard looking pastas and entrees .

We won't be going back because it's too pricey for a neighborhood joint. Even a simple baguette with butter and jam is $4.00! We are talking the border of Silverlake/Echo Park here...I think the prices are not in line with the neighborhood. parking is tough too.

Interested to hear if anyone else has been yet??
