From suggestions on this website, my wife and I have become dumpling converts by eating xlb at mei long village and juicy/soup dumplings at din tai fung.
Is there anything remotely resembling these fantastic little pockets of juicy joyousness in Chinatown, or are potstickers/steamed dumplings from Yangchow the closest thing to heaven this side of the san gabriel valley?
Or, put another way, what restaurant has the best potstickers/steamed dumplings in Chinatown?
I have tried the potstickers at Yangchow and at Golden City. Yangchow are delicious, large and juicy, although nothing to die for (as the xlb at mei long village and the juicy/soup dumplings at din tai fung). The Golden City potstickers tasted horrible, as if they were a frozen, store bought brand.
