Duke of Perth

We went to a movie at the Landmark Cinema Monday night and decided to stop in at the Duke of Perth about 2 blocks away. We sat down and thought we might as well eat especially because it was 2 for 1 on entrees that night.

The vegetarian amongst us ordered a leek pie, the rest of us ordered fish & chips, bangers and mash with neeps (rutabagas!) and shepherds pie. Everyone was happy with their meals. I had the fish and chips, a nice-sized portion, not at all greasy which I loaded up with malt vineger. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. It's not easy to find good fish and chips even back in the UK these days.

The Spencer's bangers looked delish too. We also had a few Belhaven drafts, Blackthorn ciders and a few glasses of cabernet respectively. I tasted the Belhaven and it was creamy without bitterness but still full of flavor. I enjoyed my cider but I'm going for the Belhaven next time.

There was a little fire going which made it all the more cozy and the best part of all? Not ONE TV. Hallejujah for that!

Having lived in the UK for some years, I found the Duke of Perth to be the closest to a real pub experience that I have found in this city. I wish I lived closer because I would be in there every week...or maybe even nightly.
