Driving Portland to Bar Harbor

Hello, Maine Hounds

Mid-may I'm making my first-ever visit to your lovely state, and I'm very excited! I'm in Portland for one night, then renting a car and driving up to Acadia to spend three days there.

In Portland, I'm thinking of an early supper at Duck Fat, and maybe grabbing breakfast/a snack for the road at the Public Market.

Then on the drive up, stopping somewhere for the obvious lobster meal. I've taken all the reccs from this board, which are extremely helpful. My boyfriend has never eaten lobster before, so we're looking forward to this. My question is, will enough places be open by May 18th for us to be able to pick and choose? And how much does one expect to reasonably pay for fresh lobster?

Any other stops we should be making for food?

In Bar Harbor, where should I eat? Everyone talks about popovers at Jordan Pond, so we'll fit that in, but I'm also hoping for simple good meals, using local produce. We have three days there, but since we have a car, we could drive to neighbouring areas to eat. Oh, and are there any farmers markets?

Since we're students on a budget, we're not looking for splurges unless they are seriously one-of-a-kind. Someone suggested the Burning Tree for this, which we might do, but from what I've read here, plenty of delicious food is available for reasonable prices.

Thank you so much in advance for any suggestions you might give.
