Dizi at Mirage Cafe, Bailey's X-Roads

Mirage has long been a good address to know in NoVa for simple Persian meals and Lebanese desserts. Mostly kabobs with some appetizers like baba ganoush on the menu.
Lately they have been more reliably making stews, and they are posted on index cards near the cash register, not on the menu. I've had the dizi twice now, and it has been a gorgeous combination of hearty vegetables and carefully melded spices. It has lamb, potatoes, and chickpeas in a light tomato gravy. It's served in a small metal pot with a masher to flatten the potatoes and chick peas if you wish.

Also the koresht gormeh sabzi is another winner with lamb in a spinach sauce. But this is the only place in the area I've seen the dizi, and it's a real treat.
