District Report (long)

Went to District for a pre-theater dinner last nite.
During the hours of 5:30 to 6:30pm only the 3 course pre-theater dinner is served.

Appetizers:
Choice from a selection of 4
Salad, Crab claw bisque, ceviche of fish and chips and white and green asparagus.
We had the latter 2 and it was great. The ceviche was very refreshing with sorbet on top, the fish ceviche was tender. The chips were taro chips and those terra chips you can buy from the stores. There were greens and another raw vegetable on the plate. Beautifully presented. The mixture of asparagus was nice too with some sort of white diced item, on top. We couldn't figure out what it was. But it was tasty.

Entrees:
Also Choice from a selection of 4
Chichen prepared 4 ways, Seared "jerk" tuna, Lamb loin, and artic char.
The lamb were slices over couscous with chanterelle, fresh green peas and snap peas surrounded. Great mixture. The artic char was great, a filet piece of fish with the thin skin on and totally edible. Almost like salmon over a mixture of potatoes and herbs in a creamy sauce. Delicious.

Desserts:
Also Choice from a selection of 4
cheesecake, sorbet, chocolate mouse w/ expresso filling and cake, creme brulee with blueberries.
Chocolate dessert is great for a chocolate fiend which my friend is, but I am not. Just too rich for me. the creme brulee was one of the best I have ever had. I think it was the mixture of that w/ blueberries. Awesome.

The atmosphere was kind of cool, decor was unique and kind of theater themed with archways, track lighting. However, not too garish. Service was good, attentive, but not over attentive.

It was very empty, maybe only 4 tables besides ours, but it was after all a Monday. However, I think it's an excellent choice and location for pre-theater.
