Disappointing dining experience

sundeck sue | Nov 11, 2010 09:15 PM

We arrived a few minutes early for our 8:30 res., anticipating a lovely evening.

The hostess ushered us upstairs. Then she said, sorry, mistake, ushered us back downstairs. Then had us go up again, where we waited in the bar. And waited. Our table (upstairs, so no more stair-aerobics) wasn't ready for another 40 (underscored) minutes. A perfunctory apology. Nothing comp-ed--not a drink, not dessert.

The food was good, but not great--though we were a bit weary/crabby by the time we sat down to order, and that surely tamped down our enthusiasm. I had the shiso salad, which had a bit too much acidity, not enough contrast, got a bit boring, after the first few bites. Then the tuna, nicely prepared, though nothing to write home.
