A friend wanted to try this place for a large group dinner. We tried to book at the end of October for a date in mid-November. We fully expected to be told that there would be a mandatory tip or group charge and/or that there would be a deposit needed and/or that they didn't have enough room for a group of our size.
Instead, we were told that we couldn't sit in the dining room because of "interruptions" to other patrons since we are such a large group, and that they would stick us in the lounge instead. When concern was expressed that we wouldn't be able to sit there because of minors that would be in attendance, we were told that we didn't have to worry about that. Oh, and also because we were a large group we would only be allowed to come at 6 p.m., no later.
Consequently, we decided not to use this place for our dinner, as we didn't want to take the risk of arriving and being told that minors weren't allowed due to liquor license restrictions. I've never been there so I have no idea what their lounge is like, but since Rockford has "bar" in the name I assume that it's not just a spare private room that they sometimes use as a lounge.
Am I being unreasonable? Should they have not lost out a large bill and tip?
