I couldn't get a reservation at Emeril's or Delmonico's, only NOLA's was available. For two, the bill with tip came to just over $100. When I pay that for a meal, I want to be impressed, but NOLA's left me hanging.
The gumbo was good, but it seemed overly loaded with large pieces of seafood. The red snapper left me completely underwhelmed with a dry chewy texture and overbearing spices. I love pepper, but when I'm paying over $20 for a piece of meat, I want to taste something besides pepper.
The banana cake was very good, but it wasn't enough to keep me returning. Perhaps, the banana's foster bread pudding will draw me back one last time.
Should I give up on Emeril altogether, or should I give Emeril's and/or Delmonico's a try before moving on?
