This was my first visit. I ordered spicy white chinese cabbage, sweet and sour lotus root, and Sichuan hot and sour potatoes.
It was just okay. The cabbage was far from spicy and the sweet and sour lotus root was bland. The Sichuan hot and sour potatoes were interesting at first. Thinly sliced potatoes (think shoestring french fries) stir fried with peppers and garlic cloves. I expected this to have some heat. It didn't. The potatoes at the bottom of the dish that had soaked in the oil were a tad spicier than the drier ones at the top. But overall it was very mild and certainly not what you'd expect when you think Sichuan.
Another thing that concerned me was how quick the food came out. I ordered and literally five minutes later everything was served. And I was the only one in the restaurant. But perhaps the dishes I ordered were easy to prepare?
Maybe I ordered wrong. I spent a lot of time deciding which cold appetizers I wanted. I guess I should have went with two of my other choices. I wish the potatoes were spicier. Next time I think I'll ask for extra spicy and see if that helps.
Service was friendly and (VERY) fast. The waitress could have refilled my water but overall it was fine. I was tempted to order the red bean pancakes for dessert (per someone's suggestion on here) but A. I didn't see them on the menu. Only red bean cake (was that it?) and red bean with sticky rice and B. after the disappointing meal I really just wanted to leave.
