dinner at Espetus Churrascaria

thanks to this board, i went to this churrascaria on market and gough on a weekday, it wasn't very busy, as there was just one other table that was occupied while we were there

i've only been to one other churrascaria in the US and that was fogo de chao in houston but this place compares favorably, considering that its 28.95 for dinner (fogo de chao is 42.00)

there is a small salad bar with about 12 items total, the standard green salads, potato, egg salads, and beans and seasoned white rice, and hearts of palm, nothing that stood out, just for comparison, the salad bar is much smaller than fogo de chao and not as good, but who cares about salad

got a couple cocktails, a sangria ($6) and a caipirinha (6.50), the sangria i good, but i thought the caipirinha could have used more sugar

for the meats, they have: chicken, sausage, pork ribs, chicken hearts, pork loin, garlic beef, top sirloin (garlic beef cut without the garlic seasoning), bottom sirloin, and pichana i think (beef sirloin), and pineapple

the meats were very well seasoned and everything was tender and juicy, i think that the meats were better prepared than at fogo de chao, the chicken hearts were something i never had before and they were great, and i never had pineapple on a spit but that was good too

when we entered, the waiter informed us that lamb was available, but when i asked the server, he said lamb is served on weekends only, i think they held back on the lamb cuz there were so few people in the restaurant, but thats ok, every cut that i got was good where at fogo de chao i didn't care for some of the types of meat

perhaps it was because there were only two tables with customers, the meats came out at a very slow pace, i'd get one cut of meat and i'd have to wait 5-10 minutes for the next piece, in this way it was less chaotic than fogo de chao, where servers just come in waves with the meat, so it was a nice change of pace, but i wish it was a little faster

as always, i ended up eating too much and being uncomfortably full and we skipped desert
