Dinner at Emporio Rulli on Chestnut?

Has anyone tried it?

I had a fantastic lunch there last week and blissed out on the Italian cookies I took home. I’m considering dinner and I’m considering the braised rabbit.

I’ve only had rabbit once in my life. Lunch at Rulli was so good I’m considering taking the plunge again.

I know Rulli is a bit precious, but I just love the food at this place. I really recommend the rice pudding pastry … my Italian spelling is off but I believe it is called budino de rizzo.

The roast beef pannini I had for lunch was outstanding, the beef very tender and served on wonderful grilled pannini bread.

I had the Sacripantina which has three layers of vanilla sponge cake brushed with marsala wine, filled with coffee zabaglione cream and crushed almond macaroons. It was light and airy, a very delicate dessert. It is sweet and would be complemented nicely with espresso.

Those cookies are magnificent. They are definitely on my list for my next dinner party. I got one of each kind. They were on a gold plastic tray wrapped in shiny gold paper which was a beautiful presentation. The flavors are so true. A chocolate cookie tastes intensely chocolate. The apricot in the apricot cookies just was magnificently apricotty. The meringues are just simply the best. There was this one coconut cookie covered with almonds with a raspberry center that was wonderful.

You can get a plate of these lovely cookies with your coffee.

The staff was wonderful as well. They were very friendly and helpful. One waiter was going off duty, but still got me started with a Ruggeri Proseco which was a lovely sparkling wine. His mother or grandmother was waiting for him at one of the tables after he treated her to lunch. It was really sweet how proud she was of him.

Nice painting on the ceiling. Loved the dogs in tutus.

So has anyone tried dinner … the rabbit … or has recommendations?

The link below is to the cake page of the Rulli website. Slices of these cakes are available at the café.
