Just got home from NYC, where we ate at many of the child friendly places recommended to me below. But we had such a nice time with my son at one place that I thought I should post for other parent-hounds. The place is Periyali, a nice (if pricy) greek place on 20th street. Instead of a booster seat for my 2 year old son, they tied 3 cushions to a chair, which had the same effect, and they gave him some paper and crayons to play with etc: that is to say, they were totally accommodating and thoughtful. More importantly, the staff could not have been friendlier, to us or to him, and the food was really good. This is the kind of place--intimate and at least a bit upscale--that scares parents, but we at least had a really nice experience.
