Dining on Angeles Crest - Newcomb's Ranch

Jerome | Sep 6, 2004 02:00 AM

So went driving up on Angeles Crest Hwy to escape the heat and wound up at Newcomb's Ranch late in the afternoon.
We weren't all that hungry having yummed cha at Empress Pavilion but went in for a drink.

Nice selections of craftsmen brewery (pasadena) beers on tap. Also on the weekend there is a (decent-looking) buffet, there was a brunch that went to 12:30, and then a bbq buffet in the afternoon, steaks chicken, hotlinks, ribs, etc. with big buffet with chili etc. Band plays, not too sure about the food but seemed like fun and different for a weekend.

Were told that this is the last weekend for full charcoal bbq buffet but they will still offer bbq'd and other foods off the menu for a while.

This place is a bit more than 26 miles up HWY 2 from the Foothill fwy (210). Just past the turnoff for the chilao visitor center, about 12 miles past the Mt. Wilson (observatory) Road turnoff.
