where to dine with two year old in San Francisco

My wife, daughter, cousin and our two year old grandaughter will be spending next Wednesday and Thursday in San Francisco, and Friday in Napa or Sonoma while our daughter is on the bay area on business. We are staying at the Hilton on O'Farrel. We are from Illinois and this is our first time to the Bay Area. I know that in our very short time in the city we will want to see the tourist areas - Wharf, North Beach, Chinatown, etc.

I've been trying to study this site for several days and I am not sure which dining places we should try since we will have our grandaughter with us. We want to eat the famous dungeness crab and would love to try some moderate to inexpensive places recommended by fellow chowhounds in the city. While my wife and I love almost any type of cuisine, my daughter and cousin have difficulty venturing beyond Mexican and Chinese (they must not be related).

Also, are there any good places near our hotel or within easy transportation that meets this discription where we can have dinner when we get there on Tuesday night?

From what I've read on the site, it looks like the Ferry Building may address some of my questions. However, does it make sense for us to go to the ferry building to eat lunch while we are walking around the town on these two days or will this take up too much time?

Thank you for any information. If any of you ever need any "dining" information for the rural midwest, I'll do my best to help!
