It's kind of crazy. I'm looking for recs in my own neighborhood. I'm always reading the boards and telling my husband, we need to go to this Chinese place (more like these 20) in the Valley, this Mexican place near downtown, these Thai places in Hollywood, and we rarely do because it's such a drive.
But since I have lived on the westside forever, I always imagine we've tried everything here (because it is close) and we've tapped out, we HAVE to drive far to try something new and chowworthy.
I'm sure I'm overstating it though, and there are places in my neck of the woods (SM, Venice, Mar Vista, Culver, Century City, BH) that people from other parts of town drive to specifically to dine, and I haven't been there yet. In other words, not seeking a place you would eat on the westside if you were already there, but a place you would specifically take the time to drive to. Expensive or cheap.
I know people specifically seek out the Sawtelle places, Clementine, Angelini Osteria, Father's Office, Bay Cities, Panns, Joe's, Jin. What have I forgotten? Thanks!
