We went to grab some ice cream earlier tonight and discovered to our dismay that two locally-owned businesses have gone under just in the past 2 weeks: Abbott's Frozen Custard in Hyde Park Village, and Joffrey's coffeehouse (which scooped Old Meeting House ice cream and was an all-around pleasant place to eat it) on MacDill (south of Euclid). The Marble Slab (Howard near Swann) went under several months ago. What??
(Yes, there's still a Joffrey's in Channelside.)
We repaired to the Cold Stone on Neptune just off Dale Mabry, and it was as good as ever, with a line out the door, btw. But I am bummed to see two businesses I frequented gone, and the ice cream landscape of S. Tampa seriously diminished. RIP, Abbott's and fresh-scooped Old Meeting House at Joffrey's...
Gelato at Pane Rustica, Publix Greenwise and Duomo at International Plaza
I think they scoop Old Meeting House at Daily Eats on Howard (blech)
fro-yo (Sunni Bunni, Cali, etc.)
Cold Stone on Neptune
those drive-through frozen yogurt places, one on Henderson, another on MacDill, what the heck are they called??
