Delightful Cuisine. 1745 Robson St., Vancouver, B.C., V6G 1C9
4 day visit to Vancouver. After having difficulty finding very good vegan/vegetarian food in Vancouver, on final night discovered this gem - small family owned restaurant, open only a few weeks. Inexpensive. A couple own it, and the woman is a vegetarian and a fantastic cook. Uses fresh, healthy, tasy ingredients.
The restaurant is vegetarian friendly, but also serves meat/fish dishes.
Makes everything herself, including the hot sauce.Vegan Vietnamese sandwich ($4.50 I believe) was delicious - gf and I got 2 each they were so good (took half of 2nd sandwich home). Also had vegan spring roll. Everything cooked fresh by the owner and a friend of hers. The night we were there, a son was taking orders - very friendly, perfect English, eager to please. My gf said we'd sit by the window. The son thought she meant outside the window, and the table they have out there was occupied. He immediately began to move an empty table outside for us, until we told him she meant inside by the window. Great customer service attitude.
I was wary of the "vegetarian ham" that came with the vegan sandwich, and the son said he'd ask his mother about the ingredients. She came out of the kitchen, and brought a plateful of the vegetarian ham to display it for us, and explained she makes it with tofu wrapped in banana leaves.
It was excellent.
My girlfriend had the sandwich with meat, and reported it was also delicious.
Leaving Vancouver the next day, we got 4 takeout sandwiches. She gave us a delicious sweet bean desert (vegan). She said she intends to make fresh vegan desserts and change them every few days.
Although they have a small menu, we would've eaten there daily if we'd known about them when we arrived.
Just like ALEDM states in his review, I hope they thrive - they deserve to.
