My needs -- Italian and GOOD. Not fine-dining exactly, but fine food, and a place that's full of warmth and character.
Also, I'd love it if it were somewhere within a short walk or short hop by cab from Rittenhouse Sq.
Some background: It's my parents' 50th anniversary next month. And the first part of their present, from my brother and me, is to stay at the hotel where they spent their first night as a married couple.
And to enjoy a wonderful, relaxing, memorable dinner.
My parents are adventurous, unpretentious people -- I think of them as 'hounds, myself, recalling many a time when we'd drive an hour into the sticks to check out a rib joint or exploring the nooks of the city for great, interesting ethnic food.
Thanks in advance!
p.s. Someone in my office recently mentioned to me D'Angelo's, but I'm not all that sold on her eating judgment, generally.
