Finally got around to going to Daniele Osteria with some friends Friday night. I was not impressed. The highlight of the meal was the gnocchi - perfectly textured, and the gorgonzola sauce had just the right tang, so it was creamy smooth and yet had a bite to it. The tuna carpaccio with orange salad also was excellent. The salad with fried goat cheese was very good, as were the mussels. On the other hand, the veal was tough and tasteless, and the seared tuna and the sea bass were only average.

What was really disappointing, however, was the service. We were seated for at least ten minutes before receiving menus, and had to wait an unusually long time to have our orders taken. Repeated requests for more bread and dipping oil were ignored. Fortunately, once we did order, the food came promptly.

The place was full, and there was one large party of 10 or so, but I expected a lot more from the place. I hope we just hit them on a bad night.
