So, I am going to start the Daniel Diet on Oct. 25th! I am really looking forward to adopting this eating pattern for 14 days. Has anyone done this diet before? It is the diet that Daniel asked KIng Nebuchadnezzar to follow instead of eating the rich food from the kings table. I am going to prepare some soups and a barley casserole with some of the items I can eat, but if any of you have ideas on meals, entrees, snacks ect. that can be created, please let me know. Here are the guidelines for the diet.
Foods to Eat:
Whole grains: brown rice, rolled oats, oatmeal, barley, corn, popcorn, and wheat
Legumes: dried beans, pinto beans, split peas, lentils, black-eyed peas, green beans, green peas, peanuts, lupins
Fruits: apples, apricots, avocados, bananas, berries, dates, figs, grapes, lemons, limes, melons, olives, oranges, pears, pineapple....
Vegetables: artichokes, asparagus, beets, broccoli, cabbage, celery, chili peppers, eggplant, ginger root, kale, leeks, lettuce, mushrooms, greans, herbs, peppers, potatoes, radishes, scallions,spinach, squashes, turnips, yams, zucchini
Seeds: all nuts, and nut butters
Liquids: water, 100% fruit or veggie juices, low soium veggie stock
Foods to Avoid:
White flour and all products using it
white rice, white bread, hominy and pasta
wine, beer, any alcoholic drink
refined sugar, honey, high fructose corn syrup, chemical sugar subs, preservatives
additives, and fats
