Damaging Stainless Steel?

rores28 | Sep 23, 2011 10:16 AM

I've been reading recently about "damaging" stainless steel pots and pants by scrubbing them too hard with things like steel wool etc..

I was wondering what damaging means in this case and what are the implications?

If I have a copper or aluminum core is their a chance that I could expose this inner metal, leading to problems? Is there anyway to scrape away that much stainless steel?

Does it simply cause the steel to be a poorer conductor of heat?

Thanks
