Curry at the Donut Co. in Paso

Stopped in today at my favorite Paso Robles coffee spot, The Donut Co., (they make the Mocha chillers that I like after a long day--sugar-free!).

While at the counter I spied a hand-written sign advertising a lunch special--Curry with Eggplant. I asked, and the owner gave me a sample--it was delicious! For $5.95, I got about 3/4 of a qt. to take home for dinner along with enough Jasmine rice for two generous servings.

The owner who used to run it single-handedly (I'm sorry, I'm SO bad at remembering names) has her SIL helping her in the shop now and told me they are going to have a different curry daily, and also start serving rice bowls at lunch.

This is a diverse little shop, next to the pet store and 4 Hermanos, in a strip mall just off Spring at about 6th street. They serve fresh donuts and croissants, deli sandwiches, hand-dipped ice creams, expresso drinks, and now rice bowls and curry.

Next time you need a change of pace for lunch, pop in and try the curry. Very flavorful, and heat can be adjusted to your taste. A nice meal at a very reasonable price.

For those of you passing through Paso on Hiway 101, take the Spring street exit northbound, proceed to 6th st. Southbound, take Riverside exit south to 13th, go right on 13th to Spring, left on Spring to 6th. A nice family owned place.
