The blossoming of several new Indian and Pakistani restaurants has inspired a series of chowdowns to vet the newcomers and revisit the pioneers. Please join us for a curry-diving adventure!

Sultan is the newest light on the City’s Muglai horizon. We’ll arrange for some special dishes (e.g., coconut milk fish curry, charga spicy fried chicken, haleem) to put the new kitchen through its paces. The cost should be less than $15 per person. Wednesday, Nov. 19, 7:30pm – Vouvray and Dinner at DARBAR (1412 Polk St., SF, 415-359-1236)

François Rabelais described Vouvray as “wines of taffeta”, for their silky textures and radiant flavors. Produced from the Chenin Blanc grape grown in the Touraine area of the Loire Valley, Vouvray wines are best at the table as an accompaniment to richly flavored and creamy sauces.

Shreesh Taskar and Melanie Wong have chosen some special Vouvray wines, ranging from bone-dry to semi-sweet and all the way up the sugar scale to dessert, plus sparkling wines, to show the many personalities of Vouvray. This is the chance to try them as an interesting and nontraditional match with a multi-course Pakistani set menu. The menu and wine list with estimated cost will be available soon.
