After a lot of thinking, mulling, wondering, worrying, I decided to bite the bullet and order the DLC 7 bowl directly from Cuisinart (for $46.00 + $8.95 shipping). I was checking Ebay, and there was one bowl available which was the 14-cup amber that I needed, but the seller did not get good ratings.( I checked on resellerratings.com)
Anyway, I called Cuisinart on Friday and ordered the bowl. I was told that if the bowl was not the one I needed (since my processor is no longer being manufactured, it is 25+ years old)
I could return it, as long as I hadn't put food in it!! (How am I supposed to know that it works if I can't use it??) Incredibly, I got the bowl today, and so far, so good. The bowl fits on the base, the lid and pusher fit on the bowl, and when I put the processor on with the metal blade in place, the blade was spinning around. I did not add any food (vis a vis the return policy!!) but I think (fingers crossed) this episode has a happy ending.
Thank you all for your thoughts, suggestions, input and opinions. I really wanted to keep my processor, since the motor is still working beautifully and I don't think the newer models are made as well. Replacing the bowl sems to have been a good solution.
