crab cake chronicles cont'd--Crisfield

After last weekend's lack of success, this evening I carried through on my threat and tried Crisfield's in Silver Spring, which is within walking distance of chez moi. I hadn't been there in over 20 years.

I ordered the crabcake sandwich, and while there added in a softshell sandwich in the interest of further research. Had fries with one and cole slaw with the other.

The crabcake was decent but not stellar. No lump meat, but not too much filler either. Good flavor, tho it also had a little green pepper (why do they do that??). Done in fry basket, not pan.

The softshell was better. They served two small ones on the sandwich. Fairly thin crust; nice and crispy, and juicy center.

The surprize was the sides. The fries were fresh made, with crunch outside and softness inside. Good flavor. Overall very good. And the cole slaw was really great. Crunchy, nicely shredded, and just the right amount of sweetness in the dressing. Maybe the best I've ever had.

I'll go back soon and try the Norfolk crab.
