A little over a month ago I posted about my dissatisfaction with The Counters ability to properly cook their burgers to order.
I had some (email) correspondence with the owner who informed me of his business goals and I, in return, gave him my perspective as a consumer. He assured me he was working to correct the problems.
First, let me state that I really liked TC, the portion size choices, the topping options, the taste of the beef and the overall feel of the place. My main objection was the overcooked beef.
Having considered several times (over the last 5 weeks) to go again, I held off hoping to give Jeff (the owner) time to do his thing. Well, I had a lunch planned today with a friend whom I had taken there before and he (who likes his meat medium so he doesn't have the same issue as I do) wanted to go there.
I ordered the burger rare and only told the cashier (a new one)once more to be sure the burger was cooked rare. She smiled and pleasantly acknowledged my request. After we ordered I notice she went to the window to the kitchen talking to someone, which I assumed was to tell them how I wanted my burger cooked.
Well, I guess Jeff did something right: My burger was RARE as ordered! I will now resume going to The Counter, knowing my food will be properly prepared.
I can only assume that others have noticed this, as the last couple of times I went it wasnt very busy, yet today arriving a little before noon there was a line, and while we were waiting for our food there were no tables left! Definitely a good sign!
Any of you that agreed with my previous post should try The Counter again, I hope youll find the same improvement I did. I may go again tomorrow!!
