Where do sub-continental hipsters "get their snack on"?... Amrit Ganga

During the 4 hour power outage in Nortown last night I had two options.... Use the cover of darkness to loot my neighbors garages or go eat ice cream.

I found myself at Amrit Ganga which occupies the space of the short lived "Manchow Bombay Chinese".

It's dark and comfortable with strains of the latest "Bollywood" dance hits playing in the backround. The clientele are mostly young, attractive, sub-continental "twenty-somethings" and is managed by the same. On weekends a "palmist" is on duty to tell you your fortune.

Amrit Ganga serves a full range of Indian sweets, hot and cold chat, tea and bottled water.

I had mango kulfi which consisted of chunks of mango ice cream, a ladling of condensed milk and some ground pistachios. The ice cream is quite good, but not quite up to the quality of King Sweets four block to the East.

For a cool treat on a muggy evening, Amrit Ganga is the place.
