Confused by Plymouth gin

I'm one of the people who used to purchase Plymouth gin before they raised the price by around 50%. So, I haven't really paid attention to it for a while.

I was in a store the other day and saw two Plymouths: one at around 80 proof, and a navy strength (57%ABV) version.

The "old" version of Plymouth was, IIRC, around 94 proof. So, in between the two current versions.

My question is simply: what is up with that?
