Compton's Cow Palace - Shelbyville, Ind

This past Sunday night, on the way home from the Brickyard 400, our RV broke down in Shelbyville, Indiana. Shelbyville is right off I-74 between Cincinnati and Indianapolis. We checked into a motel and next morning found a place to fix the RV. Right across the street was Compton's Cow Palace - recommended both by the motel and the repair shop. I've seen their billboards on I-74 numerous times, but never bothered. Well, what a delight this place was. We had breakfast there. This is a summary of some wonderful food.

Three eggs scrambled with ham, onion, green pepper and cheese. Light, fluffy and all flavors perfectly blended. A side of 'country browns' - their version of hash browns - fresh potatoes beautifully cooked. Wheat toast with Apple Butter (Smuckers, but still good). Country fried steak (if you like that stuff - I don't). Sausage gravy and biscuit - excellent sausage flavor. Eggs sunny side up perfectly cooked. Good coffee, not great. The tab for all this was $13 for the two of us.

So, if you're on the road between Indy and Cincy, stop in. It's about 1 mile south of I-74 - exit number is about 114 (not sure). Just look for the billboard. They also make their own ice creams, though I didn't have any.
