I had the misfortune to try a bbq joint down in Swansea, SC Friday night -The Country Side Barbecue.
Sauce - a mild mustard-based sauce, slightly sweet, the best thing about the place.
Meat - Roast pork, no smoke, anointed with the sauce. Ribs were roast pork without any sauce. No skins.
Hash and rice - fairly good, but nothing to write home about.
Sides - no baked beans, string beans overly salty, my 14-year old reported the mac and cheese to be very good.
Dessert - no banana pudding, very thinly sliced lemon-flavored yellow cake. Nothing else.
We found the meal pretty boring, and didn't finish it.
The place was packed, so I figure that there is nothing else close, but we won't go there again. There is too much good bbq in the midlands to bother with mediocrity.
