Just got back from brunch at Colorado Kitchen. Up 14th on Colorado in DC's Brightwood neighborhood. Had heard great things about the place and also that knew ahead of time that service would be slow. Good thing to know beforehand.

Great selection of down home food with just a little twist. We started with the basket of six homemade donuts. Simply Divine. I could eat these every day. They are cakey and crispy covered with creamy chocolate, nuts and honey, or plain powdered sugar. Also recommend the shrimp and garlic cheese grits, and eggs benedict each came with a slightly sweet biscuit.

Can't wait to go back to dinner to try the catfish with fried green tomatos and corn on the cob! As well as the freshly squeezed lemonade. No alcohol is served here.

But be forewarned. Service is very slow and laid back. They had one waitress the morning we were there and one chef in the kitchen. Don't think it's much more than that at dinner. But the food is definitely worth the wait.
