Had dinner at former home of Lobster Club on East 80th Street tonite. Now called Clove, restaurant tries hard but ultimately disappoints. Service and staff unbelievably friendly and efficient. Melon martini to start is yummy, comes with a fresh piece of watermelon inside. Wild mushroom and goat cheese salad to start is drenched in what seems like bottled mustard dressing.
Husband had beet salad which was also average. Artichoke encrusted halibut was decent, but overdone with all kinds of artichoke hearts, artichoke puree etc.
The pork chop was great looking but ultimately very average.
I keep hoping Ill find a great place up here but many places end up average and very pricey (place was on par with The Dining Room on 79th)
Ill rather have Sushi of Gari in a heartbeat .
