Chowhounding While Biking

Got on the Gary Fisher yesterday and rode through the Presidio and then headed down Arguello into GG Park. In true Chowhound fashion, I decided to scope out some of the many spots I had seen posted but had not previously located.

As I rode along, I began to realize that with each spot, there was a fellow hound associated with it. For example, I was headed up Ninth Avenue and pedaled past Arizmendi. I thought of my good friend Rochelle Foles, who first directed me to this ambrosial bakery. I then determined that I had to try to find Yum Yum Fish. Once I located it, I thought of The Limster, master of the prosaic post, complete with vividness of phrase that allows one to almost taste the described dish.

The compass pointed West, so I decided to ride to the beach. First up was South Sea Seafood Village, which conjured up images of Melanie Wong, deep in study mode no doubt, even as we speak but always in our minds as the keeper of the flame. Moreover, who else can discern the nuances of dim sum and family style meals like Melanie.

Finally, way out there in the Avenues, I see Cajun Pacific and think of Celery, whose post I had to go back and re-read for the deliciosness of it all, (yum, yum & yum) and my pal Zach, who just recently struck a tummy chord with a discussion of po-boys and hush puppies.

Up the Great Highway past the Beach Chalet, (alas no Chowhound associations but recollections of dining there with my wife many times) and then past the Cliff House, no associations at all. A delightful ride, great exercise and fond food recollections. What more do ya need??
