New Chowhound Spot in St. Pete

We've talked before on this board about the Country Market & Deli, a place to get awesome Cuban sandwiches and lunches. Now the owner has just opened a new spot: Papa J's Mega Salads. A unique concept: only salads, only takeout, only open til 3pm. I ordered one turkey, two shredded pork, and one "picadillo", a Cuban dish of ground beef with capers and raisins. I wanted to know what picadillo was, and owner Joe gave me a "small taste" ha! I could barely finish it - but somehow I managed. At $7 each, 4 salads fed 8 men, and we still had leftovers! Loved the pork and picadillo, the turkey was thin sliced deli turkey, I actually wanted his homemade chicken, but they were sold out.

Give it a try! Located at the intersection of Central Ave and 20th Street in St. Pete, in the parking lot of Haslam's Bookstore (this store is a must-see for chowhounds who love to read too!).
