So, I've been reading a lot of bachelorette threads here but still want to ask my own question and see what responses I get.
Here is the deal - I just moved away from NYC after living there ten years and my family still is there, so it's my home base. I'm coming back for my bachelorette party in May, for which I plan to go have dinner with friends and then go dancing after. Manhattan is probably easiest because I have friends from Queens and Washington Heights coming although the majority of the crowd is from Brooklyn. We are probably about 12 people, aged mid-30s to mid -50s. Something festive would be nice. If we were staying in Brooklyn, I'd probably choose Belleville.
I am 42 & a fairly serious (and long time user of) chowhound - my NY relatives have been known to call ME from the street to ask where they should eat dinner.
so here are my specifics: I live in "Hotlanta" now where the down-home calorific comfort food craze is in full effect and where Mexican food is far superior to what can be had in NY.
I like Italian, Spanish tapas, sushi, French bistros, pan-Asian. I'd prefer to be close to the LES or financial district., something around $40-$50 pp . I used to enjoy inoteca with friends, but I imagine it is too crowded and zany now.
Places I'm considering based on what people have said here are
La Bottega - largely because of the possibility of sitting outdoors.
places I might choose based on my own old faves - Aroma, Artisanal, Crispo, Mermaid Inn if it weren't so loud.
Any other places I should consider? Downtown is better - we can travel east to west. Any of these you'd recommend over the others? How does La Bottega compare to Crispo?
