Chowhound Gratitude: Chef Hannes

With Bistro Verdu in recent memory, having added Angelique Cafe earlier this week for lunch and now Chef Hannes for early dinner, I am filled with gratitude for your recommendations. I piggy backed on the LAX dinner thread since I was dropping a friend off myself and we headed for Chef Hannes in El Segundo. Having worked a year in El Segundo (in the Rosecrans/Aviation sector), I was stunned to find a bonafide Main Street on the other side of Sepulveda. I had a comfort food feast of Spicy Chicken Sausage Cassarole for 11.95 and my friend had very nice Salmon, grilled with Arugula and excellent Mashed Potatos for 13. 95. There had to be two 8oz. filets in this order! We started with a half Caesar and a half Chopped Salad salad for $4.95 each and finished with an average Creme Brulee and Apple Struedel with canned whipped cream for $4.00 each. We ordered wine by the glass: me a Beringer Gwurtz and my friend, a Rodney Strong Chard, both up to the task at hand.

All in all, a sweet time.
