Chowfiesta LA: Maybe San Diego too?

I attended the Chowfiesta in West LA on Saturday. It was very well attended with approximately 43 showing up and many others did not but still donated to the cause. I arrived on Friday and started to fire up the BBQ at Professor Salt's place to have it ready the next day. I made pulled pork and spare ribs with all of the sauces , etc.

We then headed out to King's Palace in Sa Gabriel for a chinese meal with 7 other LA Chowhounders. We had a 9 course meal with the highlights being the Peking Duck, Fried Dungeness crab with garlic and hot chilis, and a winter melon slice dish with crab roe that was really great.

The Chowfiesta was a fun event where they rented out a karaoke bar. We had the whole place to ourselves and they had the bar open too. The food was quite good with a lot of pork dishes I think there were 3 rib varieties. Mexican, asian, many desserts, about 30-50 items or more. There will be a link soon in the LA board with pictures.

I believe they raised over 1000 dollars for the event to support Chowhound.

If San Diego Chowhounders want to help me organize an event I may be interested if we can figure out the logistics of a location, time, etc.

The San Francisco and LA Chowhounders are bigger in number and more active. How can we catch up to them?

Let's hear your thoughts...........
