Barbacoa fans join susancinsf and me in exploring the offerings at one of Oakland's Fruitvale Mexican district's newest sit-down restaurants.
The specialty of Casa Maria is barbacoa: lamb (or perhaps mutton) pit roasted over wood Mexico City style. Also offered are a wide array of enchiladas and quesadillas made with masa (rather than tortillas).
