i'm afraid i don't have much time to post this, nor do i have the means of posting my pics (useless boy, i know).

but let me briefly say that with the essential assistance of martin's wife from dongbei, we were able to enjoy a meal of quality and authenticity last night at this san mateo eatery.

we sampled several dishes which are very typical of the region, and i believe even jing's parents found them 'bu tsuo' ("not bad"). this is actually fairly high praise coming from a couple of senior chinese chows.

my faves were the browned corn cakes, the potato, eggplant, and pepper dish, the double skin, and the 'hot pots'.

i'm afraid that this resto really caters to northern chinese, rather at the expense of any gringos or even illiterate chinese americans. (the menu's english is poor). that is a great shame, as this place produces good food with real regional character.

i can only hope they'll get the message.
