I talked to the Parthenon today to make sure we had a reservation and a whole pig. We are on for the January 27th at 5 pm. Note, that this is a somewhat random time, if anyone has a real problem with the time, please let me know ASAP.
It's kinda confusing dealing with the place, but they are also very accomodating. They are currently running specials on their family style dinner. What makes things cool, from our perspective, is that there is no limit on how the table can order.
What we can do, and what seems to me we should do, is order an assortment of combonations. We'd get some family style dinners (saganaki, taramasalata, greek salad, steam table stuff, desert), some vegetarian family style dinners (for some reason I cannot get on to their web site for the details on what is in the vegetarian dinners) and some of what they call their "tapas" assortment. Then, we add the whole pig on top of that. With tax and tip, we are looking at around 18 dollars per person. It would mean less of each kind of food but more of each kind of food.
BYOB, unfortunately, is not an option. We could notch down some of the food and build liquor into the price, or bill that seperately. To be honest, at the first chowdown, things ended up a bit inexact and everyone chipped in fine, so I trust we can all handle the math here.
